Network KVM (Sort off)

Hello

We have a client that wants to have the desktops on another floor, does any one know of devices that will link screens, usb devices on the desks upstairs to the desktop downstairs

You want the peripherals in one room and the computer in another. So a normal KVM or remote desktop protocol is out of the question because there is no computer at the location of the peripherals. If so and the distance is more then about 9 feet or about 3 meter. Then the only thing i can think of is a good Thunderbolt dock and a optical Thunderbolt cable. It’s not a cheap solution but it works, your PC needs to have a Thunderbolt port to be able to do this. Price wise it might be easier to put a thin client at the location of the peripherals and do KVM or some remote desktop protocol. I mention a thin client because many of these have no fan and i suspect that might be a reason you clients pc are in another room.

This sounds like a good case for thin clients connecting to the remote machine.

I’m doing this for a client, though in my case the desktop is a windows VM and I’m connecting from a thin client via SPICE. It’s a little slower than we’d like because the client is on a Starlink connection in the other side of the country, but locally over fiber it works pretty well.
