I want to setup immich with truenas and have remote access to immich via apple immich app.
How do i setup netbird to do this ?
Do i need to have my own domain name in order to use netbird to access my immich server?
Netbird does not require your own domain but do you have Immich setup with your own domain?
I have never used Netbird, but I assume it is somewhat close to Tailscale in functionality. I use Tailscale in my set up, and I have my phone on my tailnet. I run Tailscale on my pfSense router, and use the “advertise subnets” feature for certain VLANs in my environment. On my phone, with the Tailscale app connected, I can access any service in my home lab, the same way I would on my home computer. That is to say, by IP address or by FQDN. In my case, I have a proper domain name for all my home lab services that I purchased from Cloudflare, and all my services have FQDNs with proper SSL certificates (DNS challenge, no open ports, nothing exposed to the internet), just because I wanted to. But I can access stuff by IP address too. I rely on pfSense to do all my local DNS resolution.
I have immich installed on bare metal truenas without my own purchased domain name.
where do you run the Netbird client?
