Try to migrate a vm from one host to any of the other hosts
In Tasks list several tasks appear and disappear very fast but migration never happens. The photo shows the tasks that appear
Is it possible that the change from AMD to Intel is messing it up? That assumes the T630 is an HP T630 thin client. Maybe the VM would need to be shutdown in order to move from 1 architecture to another. All a guess based on your naming, might be completely wrong.
The only other thing I can think of is that you are moving XO-CE which is the tool that you are using to move it. I can’t recall ever having a problem moving one of my XO installs, even while using it, so I’m not sure.
Since this is XO-CE, you could download the config, go to the console of the NUC 1, and execute the script to download and install another XO-CE onto NUC 1. Log in and upload the old config and you will be back in business.
Then you could try shutting down the original problem VM, and see if migrate works. Or just delete it to save some space.
I say this because somewhere in the back of my head, I remember someone saying that if you are moving to a different processor architecture (Xeon v2 to Xeon v5) that it might be OK but best to shut the VM down and migrate, then boot when it’s on the other system. Thinking back, I asked this on the XCP forum because I was looking at a processor upgrade to get more cores.
Thank you Greg, The T630 is a Dell PowerEdge T630 I am testing and learning with for xcp-ng. I have two older Intel NUC’s and a Datto I re-flashed to scp-ng. I am just testing and learning the xcp-ng echo-system. I have tried the other vm’s both warm migration and shutdown. They all act the same way, several tasks flash and disappear over and over and nothing happens.
I had a lot of problem shutting down the xo-ce in my lab this morning, I wonder if something is “funny” with the guest tools installed in these images. The Debian 12 (also had xo-ce running) that I built was shut down in seconds, as was the Windows Server eval.
Maybe there is something going on with these downloaded images. Waiting for XO-lite to get finished so that we can hopefully just create a VM and run the script to create an xo-ce VM. It’s getting closer with every update.
For anyone that stumbles on this post, I found the issue. I had to do with CBT or snapshots. Maybe just snapshots but I found it in xensource.log file. This error showed up over and over. I deleted the snapshot on a vm and it migrated fine.
