Migrating to unifi gateway

having watched various videos and seen Tom go from pfsense to unifi I decided to take the plunge myself. i have a self host cloudkey and use opnsense for dhcp, routing, etc.

i was eble to export my config and import to to my cloud gateway, but after this point i can no longer access the gateway.

it doesn’t seem to have it’s own ip or to pick one up from the dhcp server following importing my network settings.

it makes sense there is a problem because my old key had a fixed ip which was given to it by proxmox and perhaps it isn’t dhcp aware.

has anyone tackeld this and what is the procedure or steps to get over this hurdle.

The UniFi cloud gateways act as DHCP sever with their own IP so it would not get one from your OPNSense.

yes, but, when i import from my self host controller, there is no dhcp configured. i have no idea what the gateway is doing after the import, but i’m not sure how to talk to it. it doesnt seem to get an ip from my opnsense either.

The default GW IP for LAN is 192.168.1.1

crap, i figured it out … 2 part problem … so at some point i changed the default network to 192.168.10.0/24 so when i imported the config it was changing to this.

after import, dhcp is not enabled on the network so had to manually set an ip on my laptop to gain access.
