Linux Friendly IP Cameras

I’m looking to replace my decade old IP cameras, however, a couple of the cheap ones (Ankke) I’ve been looking at seem to need Windows to configure them in a browser.

Are there brands that are known to be able to set-up and configure using linux only.

Currently my old cameras need Internet Explorer to login and configure.

I use a Reolink camera with my Synology and it just requires a modern browser to configure it. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work from Linux, works fine on both my Mac and iOS devices.

All the ones mentioned in this video have a web interface that does not need ot use Internet Explorer.

+1 for Reolink. Been using 2 of them for over a year now, no downtime or issues.

Had a look at a couple of cameras and their manuals, they indicate that plugins are required for configuration of the cams in a browser. For whatever reason video footage will not play natively on Linux.

My QNAP won’t show video either, their linux client is deprecated. So while I can technically configure the camera settings anything related to video won’t be possible.

I can spin up a windows VM but means I can’t be completely independent of it … ho hum
