Jetkvm & HDMI KVM Switch

i am currently searching for a good working KVM Switch to access multiple systems from jetkvm.

My experience with “ATEN CS1798

positive:

  • has OSD with lots of configuration
  • hotkey can be changed to “scroll lock” or “left control”

negative:

  • hotkeys do not work with jetkvm - both available keys do not work
  • has dedicated mouse and keyboard and mass storage USB ports. when using jetKVM lags occur when more than “hid=keyboard” is activated
  • hotkey does only work on “keyboard” usb
  • some key-down and key-up events are dropped → missing keys or “long presses” that continue until you press that key again

neutral:

  • only USB 2.0
  • serial only for firmware update, no control possible

Can you share your experience with KVM Switches?

Do you have some recommendations/ known working HDMI switches?

Thanks in advance!

I have not really tested any in a long while as I rarely need them. I assume the JetKVM should work with one as long as the shortcut keys to switch are able to be sent.

Hi Tom,
i assumed that too, but reality showed that some “keydown” or “keyup” events are lost between jetkvm and the hdmi switch as soon i activated mass storage or mouse usb hid function in jetkvm settings.
I ordered some more KVM for testing and I will post my results here

i bought AIMOS HDMI KVM Switch, 8 In 1 Out for 80 €, and i am happy with it - but not flawless.

I also connected a HDMI Splitter to get the image to the jetKVM and the local Monitor

One thing that does not work is the mass storage and hotkey support at the same time, but that is something that i not need.

EDID is set to “DELL D2721H 1920x1080” that the HDMI Splitter works without hiccups with my Monitor.

USB Classes: only Keyboard + absolute Mouse (when i add mass storage i get the problem that sometimes a keystroke is not recognized by the jetKVM)

USB Identifier: “Microsoft Wireless Multimedia” - without this the hotkeys for the hdmi switch does not work.
