Intel X540-T2 (Legit NIC) Can't access Truenas Web UI

Hi, hope you all are having a good holiday break. Main issue I have is that I can’t access Truenas Core web gui. The NAS system with the X540-T2 is connected to a ubiquity Flex-XG and the Flex-XG is connected to a Ubiquiti 24 port switch.

I have reset truenas to factory default and rebooted few times. I have been able to clear the NIC’s settings and also set a static ip to one of the ports of the X540 and reboot the system again. The Flex-XG is recognizing the connection at 10 gig speed, but for some reason I can’t access Truenas web gui with the established static ip. I would appreiate any guidance you would offer. Have a good rest of the week. Thank you.

Can you ping the IP address? Is it on the same subnet you are trying to reach it from?

Hi Tom and happy new year! I can’t ping the address. I am certain the NAS X540-T2 NIC is set to an address in the same subnet.

Main network 192.168.100.1
NAS X540-T2 NIC = 192.168.100.40

Reserved pool range .1 - .99 for static IPs
DHCP pool rage is .100 - .250

If I remove the X540-T2 NIC and enable the on board nic and set the 192.168.100.40 it all works. So, I am not sure what I am doing wrong : )

Not really sure either, if it works on one NIC it should work on another.

are there any details on the h/w of the NAS?

you plug in the nic on an x8 pcie slot but does not work.

Are there options in the BIOS to tweak things?

Hi pavlos! Yes, the motherboard is an ASUS H97 PRO G10AJ DP MB.
The PCIe is X16. Access to the BIOS is not a problem. What are your thoughts on what settings I need to tweak? Thanks for taking the time to reply to this post. I appreciate it!

If you ssh into truenas, you should be able to see the NIC, if not, truenas is missing some driver. Are you using Truenas 12 (bsd) or Truenas 14 (x86)?

suggestion: make a ubuntu usb stick and boot from it. You can use the option Try Ubuntu which will work on ram, not touch your ssd. If ubuntu 'see’s the second NIC, that means truenas is missing a driver.

There might be an option in BIOS to enable the pcie slot.

Consider installing Truenas scale which is based on x86.
