Hello to everyone,
I have little special use-case…
I had old 2-bay Synology with 1 (old) disk installed.
I bought new disk and I have installed it in 2nd bay.
I have initialized new disk as completely independent storage so Synology now see Volume 2 on Pool 2
I don’t want to mirror 1st disk to the new one because 1st disk is SHR and I don’t like it. New disk is Basic MD RAID(0) which will be changed in the future to RAID1 or RAID5.
I have copied data from all share-points on 1st disk to the new one.
My intention was to physically remove than 1st (old) disk and let Synology boot from new drive, install app pkgs and point them to the right shares and go from there… unfortunately seems like Synology doesn’t want to boot from new drive, but it seems it is initialized properly with DSM volume present.
Any idea what could be wrong?
Right now I don’t have an option of second Synology device, and I’d like just to move data between volumes on 2 different drives in 2 bays on single device (I’m not sure if this is possible.)
Thanks in advance for any help, have a good day everyone.
