Thanks for the video tutoital, it was very helpful getting Syncthing setup with TrueNAS. I have syncthing configured to only ‘Receive’ on my TrueNAS syncthing folder. Everything is sycned up but after a day or so, the status on my TrueNAS syncthing folder states “Local Addtions”. Click ‘Locally Changed Items’ shows (10) files. I did not modify any of these files on my TrueNAS dataset/share. What could be causing these files to be modified or Syncthing to think these changed?

Not enough info for me guess other than the obvious that something changed the files.

This happened to me. I changed the dataset permissions to wide open and it solved my issue. My best guess is that when the file lands on truenas then you are no longer the owner of said file which makes it think it changed but didn’t.

I found a discussion on Reddit about this ‘Local Additions’ issue. The post recommended to check ‘Ignore Permissions’ on the receiving computer, under Advanced (my case TrueNAS). I do have difference file system, btrfs on Fedora and zfs on TrueNAS. Going to see if this solves the issue.

Update: Its been 5 days and ‘Local Additions’ hasn’t come up again since checking ‘Ignore Permissions’. Any cons with using the ‘Ignore Permissions’ option?

The only con is that it will not sync permissions but for most people they don’t want it to.
