How to connect DAC cable directly between FreeNAS and XCP-NG?

Hi,

I would like to directly connect my XCP-NG and my Freenas with a DAC cable, but I don’t know how?

How should I set up Freenas and XCP-NG (XEN Orchestra)? Is this what is called a static route?

Sorry for the noob question.

Thanks in advance.

To connect them directly via any type of network interface you will need to set them each to have a static IP in the same subnet and that subnet should not overlap with any other existing subnet and they should not have gateways on their direct subnet.

Thanks for your quick reply. I will look into it.

Thanks.

I have tried to do this however I can’t get a connection between the two machines. I have connected the two machines directly with a ethernet cable. Provided both machines with a static ip address.

Freenas - 192.168.99.20/24 (bxe2)
Debian VM - 192.168.99.10/24 (eth1)

When I try to ping freenas from my Debian VM I get the following output:
~$ ping -I 192.168.99.20 192.168.99.10
PING 192.168.99.10 (192.168.99.10) from 192.168.99.20 : 56(84) bytes of data.
From 192.168.99.20 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable

My Freenas is running on a Dell r720XD with a the following network configurations

On my Debian VM running on XCP-NG the network configuration is as follow:

The Debian VM has both network interfaces added to the VM:

I can’t figure out what i’m doing wrong here… any help is highly appreciated.

You say that the Debian VM is connected to eth1 with this address

but your screen shot shows it connected to “Pool wide network associated with eth3”

Oh my, you’re right. I don’t get how I missed that. But thanks a million!
