Help with backup/failover for WAN on pfSense

Hello all,

Looking to setup backup for if WAN on pfsense goes down. Bought to test with Ubiquiti UniFi nanoHD (UAP-NANOHD-US) but per their support Ubiquiti APs.
I have Asus RT-AC86U and I’m not sure if it can be somehow used or I have to buy some different wireless bridge?

I am not really clear on what you are trying to do.

Thanks for the reply Tom!

When my WAN (Xfinity) goes down on pfSense I have Wi-Fi network (backup) that is not part of my local network but would like to be connected to it so clients continue to be online with minimal downtime. Let me know if you need more clarification.

Why not just setup WAN fail-over in pfsense?

That’s my goal to have WAN fail-over but I need to somehow bring that wireless into pfSense and I’m not sure how to do that.

You would need some type of wireless bridging device for that to work.

Ok, can you recommend one?

I has been so long since I have setup one up that was not a pair of commercial site to site, I am not sure which ones are good anymore in the consumer space and I am not certain if the more commercial ones would work.

Ok, no worries. Thanks!
