HA for netgate 6100 on mini pc?

Hello everyone,

Has anyone set up High Availability (HA) or failover for a Netgate pfSense VM on a mini PC for the Netgate 6100?

I have a Netgate 6100 deployed at a site and am planning to set up a failover using a mini PC with pfSense installed, along with an Intel network card. I also want to use the same mini PC for some other lightweight VMs.

Would this be a good approach? My goal is to have a failover solution in case anything happens to the main Netgate router.

If this is for any kind of production I wouldn’t have a virtual pfsense. Especially for HA.

So instead of having mini pc. Can I use this : Netgate 2100 BASE pfSense+ Software - VPN, Routing, & Firewall Hardware Appliance ?

I’m pretty sure you need matching hardware to do HA.

For HA you want both systems to be the same. Mismatched systems may work, but not properly.
