I just made the appointment for Google fiber to be installed at our home. This will be the 1G service.
I’ve been using a PC with Pfsense as my firewall and router with my current DSL service and would like to continue to use it that way. Also using a Unifi AP for WiFi.
Been looking around and it looks like you have to tell Google that you want to switch to a bring your own router service once they come install it.
It looks like you set the WAN to DHCP and set it to VLAN 2. That seems simple. Is that all I’ll need to do in Pfsense?
Also it looks like you have to send power to the Fiber box if you don’t use their router. Apparently they will send you a power adapter. I saw where someone used POE to get it to work. If I use a POE injector does anyone know what amount it needs?
I was hoping to use their phone service addon as one of my children is getting old enough to be left at home now. Had anyone had experience with using Google fiber phone service and using Pfsense?
