FreeNAs 2 disk mirror?

I’m setting up a basic FreeNAS box at home to test with before investing in some proper hardware. I’ll be running a i5 4460, 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM, 2x 16GB USD drives for boot failover and a few disks.

I signed up for the FreeNAS basic training, but to through approx 6 hours of video is challenge, time wise right now.

Is it possible to have a mirror between 2 disk? I can’t seem to find any options / wizards for this & its driving me a bit nuts. If this is possible will it offer any redundancy?

Yes you can mirror. It’s been a while since I set mine up. A mirror allow you to loose either disk without loosing any data.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the navigation on the left in FreeNAS you’ll see the guide button. It’s good documentation of everything in FreeNAS. This is a screenshot from 9.2.1.

It looks like you have a drop down below the Data VDevs that will probably give you the options of Mirror or Stripe with two disks chosen.
