File backups from phone? (syncthing is no more for phones, correct?)

I have a Samsung S24+ with current backups going to onedrive. I’d like the full, original quality photos to go to my TrueNas, and idk, maybe my google drive, since I have 5TB.

I have no idea how to do this, b/c last I checked, syncthing got rid of phone support.

One possible option is (IF I can get a syncthing replacement), send direct to TrueNas, then use a tool to push encrypted backups to google drive.

Options?

Immich will back your photos to Truenas

Oh cool, I’ve been meaning to try Immich. Does it run on both phone and, say, Proxmox?

I was worried about having to run Syncthing directly on TrueNas, given that TrueNas is probably the most unstable thing I’ve ever seen in terms of how often they change how they handle applications

I think you just gave me the “final push” to try Immich.

And I just want to make sure that it ends up on a TrueNas dataset that would then have a Samba share to my Windows computer or some other means of syncing it to a Cryptomator instance for encrypted backups to the cloud (Google Drive)

You can run immich anywhere. It’s a docker image though. You can put your pictures on TrueNAS using a NFS persistent volume.

I’m still using SyncThing on my phone (Syncthing-Fork) which is still available through the F-Droid app store. Works great.

I just got the Verizon Simplicity Plan and they threw in the Goog AI Pro which includes 5TB cloud backup for 6 months (see what that entails for installing what programs first). Maybe it won’t work because of GrapheneOS though, we’ll see. However, I did plan to use something like Cryptomator in two to three months to test it out to see how it would work. Still in the process of moving, otherwise would be a higher priority. Kind of forgot about the name, but I knew that was the one once you posted it !!!

I added the Syncthing-Fork on F-Droid and also starred it on GitHub so thanks for that.
