Is anyone here self-hosting Ente using Cloudflare Tunnel? Have you also found a way to bypass the 100MB per file upload limit imposed by Cloudflare Tunnel—perhaps using Tailscale or some other workaround?
I personally use iCloud for my photos, but a few of my family members use Android, and Ente offers good cross-platform compatibility, which is why I’m considering it.
I’m planning to host it in a Proxmox container, but the main issue I face is that I don’t have a static public IP. So, I’ll need to use a tunneling solution like Cloudflare Tunnel or something similar. I know I could use Tailscale, but not all of my family members can (or want to) use a VPN all the time.
Exactly what kind of IP addy are we talking about?
I can’t tell if it’s public dynamic ipv4 (which has had a solution for, gee, idk, well over a decade… think DynDNS, DuckDNS, Dynu, cloudflare’s updater, etc. etc.)
Maybe it’s cg-nat??
Is it some ultra secret thing, maybe G-14 classified???
(last one is a joke)
Yes, I have a dynamic IP, and I don’t want to open any ports from my home network. I’ve come up with a way to host Pangolin—maybe I’ll use the Oracle Cloud free tier or a basic OVHcloud VPS in a European data center. Technically, the location doesn’t matter, but if I’m getting a VPS just for this purpose, I’d prefer one based in the EU. Just sharing my point of view.
Even if Oracle Cloud’s free tier ends up suspending my account—which I’ve seen mentioned on some forums—I can always sign up for a new one and reinstall Pangolin.
