If you want a local instance with local storage, but don’t want to install anything, here is what I’ve been doing:

The project is ad funded, so beware of the numerous ads on the page. Once you get the system installed to a flash drive, you can browse for apps from within the launcher without ads. I keep a bunch of different apps in a large USB so I can take them from computer to computer and have everything I need. Downside, Windows only.
