I have pfSense CE running in HA, and all is working fine.
However, trying to follow the guide here (and many others listed online) but I cannot find the options being mentioned. Specifically at “Configure DHCP for IPv4”. I do not have a “settings” tab, and I’ve not been able to locate any such similar settings that would fit this.
And to clarify, yes it is set to Kea DHCP.
I see my clients are using my primary firewalls IP address as the DHCP server, and I assume that is not correct.
Any help is appreciated.
Something else I just noticed as well, my DHCP Lease list is empty, but DHCP for non-static devices is still working.
Ok, I was wrong. DHCP is not working for non-static devices. Changed my iPhones MAC and now it’s not connecting. I also noticed DHCP service on both firewalls is not running. Tried to enable it, but nothing changed.
Edit - OK DHCP wasn’t working because I had google NTP servers defined by hostname. Removed those and DHCP is functional again. But I still need to understand how to put that (if necessary) into the failover setup.
What version of CE are you running? I don’t think kea DHCP is fully worked out on versions previous to 2.8
2.7.2 - working on updating to 2.8.0 but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
It does seem that DHCP is working fine now. I see the leases being listed on both firewalls as devices renew their lease. But will this “just work” when a failover is needed? I’m going to test this in my environment, but there’s a lot of activity at the moment, so I don’t want to do it right now.
