Can't import FreeNAS created pool into new TrueNAS system

First and foremost, let me start by saying : yes, I do have a backup

So a little back story, I was running FreeNAS on some old hardware. Now I’ve finally bought some new parts and have significantly upgraded my NAS running TrueNAS Fangtooth.

I’m trying to import the pool that was created in FreeNAS, but all it shows from the drop down menu is “No options”

See below :

  • Is it not possible to import such a pool from FreeNAS into TrueNAS?
  • Does some form of command line wizardry need to be performed?

If it can’t be imported, it’s not the end of the world since I have a backup, but it would still be nice.

Thanks!

Yes but it appears that it’s not seeing the drives/pool. Make sure those disks are showing up in the UI and you can check from the command line using:

zpool import

Using zpool import showed

no pools available to import

When I go to Storage > Disks it shows the disk in the list but in the Pool column, it is reporting NA

In case it’s relevant, this pool is encrypted. Could that be the reason it’s not showing up?

This is 100% the reason you cannot import the pool. TrueNAS scale uses different encryption than freenas. You should find what you need here.
