Buying an IP Block

Has anyone used IPv4.global or other platforms before?

We just moved offices and have this small ISP that has exclusive rights to sell the service to the tenants. Not a big deal, their prices are reasonable, but they limit each account to 5 public IP addresses. We do a lot of self-hosting and need more than the 5 public addresses currently. I have a proxy service already set up, along with using our firewall/router to double up services that use different ports. I could really use 5 more to make this entire situation better.

I know I would need a way to advertise this, but otherwise, I’m not sure what I don’t know about this. All the sites that talk about this seem pretty shady.

The providing ISP is not likely to support adding your own ASN with a /24 block of IP’s so it would be better to look at moving to a colo rack of a local hosting company.

I have used IPX0 for our /23 and they have been fine - easy to establish and no nonsense.

I went through the process of getting an ASN and am currently configuring BGP for announcing routes, and that is probably a LOT more work than you would want for getting 10 usable static IP addresses.

Consistent with @LTS_Tom’s advice, you might pay $100 or so for your 10 usable addresses on top of colo fees, but the time/grief saved would be significant
