Best way to charge for remote service

Hi everyone,

I’m in the process of starting my own IT company and I plan on providing remote support for home users (for now as I’m still doing my day job). For home users, what is the best way to charge them? Do you charge them prior to the service and then charge more if more time is needed or after? How would you invoice the customer? I’m just trying to figure out a good professional way of doing this. I figured out a good hourly rate based on what other companies in my area charge for home users. Any advice on this process would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

David

It’s always best with residential or new clients in general to get money up front and have a way for them to buy more time as needed. Collecting money can be a lot of work.

Awesome! Thanks for the advice. That’s kind of what I was thinking as well as I don’t want to spend time chasing people to pay or end up in a situation where they don’t pay at all.
