Things are changing with the antivirus/EDR product that I’ve been using for years (Trellix), and budgeting is making it more difficult to buy. They recently went full SaaS which dropped them out of the contracts that we used for pretty decent discounts. They’ve also gone full online, while still able to run a local server, I see the end of those days.
My reseller is checking on the following:
Sentinel One
Manage Engine
Are there any others I should be looking at? Huntress Labs?
I have a little over a year to figure this out, then time to renew or buy a different product.
Fist, full disclosure, I just started working at Huntress as part of their community engagement. When I had my MSP we used Huntress starting back in 2018 and later Lawrence Systems became an official Huntress reseller. After using them over the years I can hands down say they are the best in the business. CNWR (who bought my MSP clients) still uses Huntress with no signs of changing.
S1 is good, but much noisier than Huntress and I have this video from when S1 missed a detection which has happened several times since this video.
I thought you talked about Huntress for a long time, I’ll have to see if my vendor has them or willing to pick them up. Generally we are working with SHI these days and they’re usually pretty interested in selling other products that I mention, other people often want what I’m working on too.
Is there a specific person I can put them in contact with over at Huntress? Or a person I should contact there? I only need like 70 to 80 clients depending on how it is licensed, prefer an onprem server that handles the clients and the server can reach out for updates and things, but I’m going to take what the industry is providing after this next year. For clarity, I’ve been using McAfee ePO for over a two decades, it’s now Trellix after they sold off the enterprise product and it’s been integrated with another product to expand it. It’s been working fine and I know my way around it “good enough”, but things change.
There is no “On Prem Server” for Huntress, all agents reach out the Huntress servers for their updates and to send the data they use for incident detection.
Would your company or an outside MSP be the one signing up as that would change where I send you to get the sales process going.
