I did some quick searching and didn’t see the answer to this question, I think I know the answer but wanted to ask:
What’s the difference between the AlmaLinux10 x86_64 and x86_64_v2 ISO they have for download?
I’m guessing that the v2 version supports the older x86_64 V2 processors commands and the version without is for the newer v3+ processors. Is this correct?
x86-64-v2 version is specifically intended for systems with older CPUs, such as Intel Nehalem/Silvermont or AMD Bulldozer/Jaguar era processors, which do not support the newer features required by the v3 baseline. While the x86-64-v2 build allows for continued security updates for legacy hardware, it is only suitable for workloads using the default OS package set or where users can rebuild additional packages themselves, as third-party packages are built for the v3 architecture.
