UK-based, self-confessed IT nerd, beginning with 8 bit home computers in the early-mid 80’s.

Have worked full time in IT since 1988 (34 years and counting), spending 17 years between 1997 & 2014 working for a internet/network security consultancy travelling the length & breadth of the UK - and sometimes across the pond to the good ol’ US of A. Small-to-medium business firewalls were my thing from the likes of Borderware (now owned by WatchGuard), Secure Computing (sold to McAfee, Intel Security, back to McAfee and then Forcepoint, I believe) and SonicWALL, but also did an amount of SSL VPN work, email security, web filtering and 2FA - in the days before they were all found in the same solution!

Left that exciting world and returned to normal office-based IT roles as I got older (as did my parents), but still retain an interest in the security side of things.
