Started my career in Northstar S-100 system and dbase II. Mostly worked in the MS Windows world but transitioned to Linux about 10 years ago. Then along came raspi, maker faire, home automation.

I do home automation with raspis, node-red, graphite/grafana, Rocket.chat/hubot, esp8266, xbee, tasmota, and other fun.

I have a home lab with R710 running Ubuntu KVM for all my VM requirements. Standalone FreeNAS as backup. Pfsense as firewall, dhcp, dns, acme certs, now HAProxy…

Latest project is developing an images application running on an odroid HU4 (toaster) with nodejs, express, mongodb, to host about 60,000 images of family photos; and that’s just the start.

Day job is as devops using terraform, ansible, Icinga2, deployments into AWS.
