Confused about how the XO setup should be when adding XCP-NG servers.
When you go to Settings → Servers, here you tell XO which servers are in the pool. Do you put all the servers that are in the pool or just the current Master for that pool? In my case, in my screen shot i put both of my servers in the servers list. The node labeled ‘Hera’ is the Master. Zeus is the back up but as you can tell i am getting an error. If i click on that error i get Unknown error.
Do i add just the pool Master here?
2. Is XO smart enough to know if the current pool master goes away to connect to the new Master
If you are trying to add a host to an existing pool you first add it in the server section like you have. Then once it is added you’ll want to do this under the pool section.
I add all my servers and understand that when they are in a pool, they will show the error you see. I’ve run into one situation where this was nice to have, but can’t remember the specifics.
Yes, if you are using HA because when a mater goes offline a new one will be chosen, but no if you are not because if the master goes offline you have to manually set a new master and tell XO. But if your hosts are all live and you change which one is master then XO will figure it out on it’s own.
