I have a SuperMicro 2u server… just collecting dust, waiting for that next video game server or business idea…

SSDs are on Raid 5, I believe. Not 100% sure, been a few years, but used for the OS.
Raptors are regular setup, I believe.
Sounds like the start of a FreeNAS system or you could send it to me, just kidding.
Not a bad start for FreeNAS or xcp-ng. Although if you go down the VM rabbit hole you’ll find yourself buying more RAM pretty soon.
Just bring it back to my office, I am sure we can find it a good home.
I guess I could sell it… haha @LTS_Tom
I do like the Nas idea… but way too bulky for home storage. Id rather see it used for something exciting like phone system, business app related, or game server. etc.
Sound like you have alot of fun with it. I would be cool to play with it.
Isn’t the answer always porn?
If you’re looking to give it a good home you can add me to the list of interested parties.
@LTS_Tom How much you think I could sell that server of mine for?
I’ve been trying to bone up on Portainer / Docker / Kubernetes, your box looks like it might be able to run a couple of applications for “stuff” !
@JRuck hard to say but the new AMD have really pushed down the price on the older servers.
Nearly 2 years later you still have it? Did you do anything with it?
How about using it as a game server?
Given you’d be hosting the server you could play with all sorts of plugins/addons for games, go crazy!
