pfBlockerNG update errors

Hi all,

Hope this information is useful. I updated pfBlockerNG and got the following errors:-

Country code update Start
[ MAXMIND UPDATE FAIL, Language File Missing, using previous Country code database ]
Creating pfBlockerNG Continent PHP files
IPv4 Africa
grep: /usr/local/share/GeoIP/cc/Africa_v4.txt: No such file or directory
Continent data [ Africa ] not found
IPv6 Africa
grep: /usr/local/share/GeoIP/cc/Africa_v6.txt: No such file or directory
Continent data [ Africa ] not found

Uninstalling and reinstalling everything didn’t resolve the problem. I took a shot in the dark with a setting and suddenly it worked.

The setting in question is as follows:-

Click on Firewall in pfSense and select pfBlockerNG.
Click on IP and scroll to Maxmind GeoIP configuration.
Uncheck MaxMind CSV updates.
Scroll to the bottom and click on Save IP Settings.

Once this is done, perform an update and voila!! The errors are gone.

Hi all,

Running the latest version of pfSense 2.7.2-RELEASE (amd64) and the latest version of pfBlockerNG-devel 3.2.0_20.

Hi all,

Part of where this problem came from was when I originally setup pfBlockerNG using the guide from here:-

Between Figure 18 and 19 the guide states “You may disable the MaxMind monthly CSV GeoIP database cron update”.

I didn’t at the time think that disabling this would now cause this glitch I encountered. I hope this history into the error is of help.
