The redundancy is for the actual “openVPN connection” between the site, if that goes down I have to take some action, that’s way too much effort 
I have a paid for VPN service which has three connections to their servers, if one server goes down the traffic will flow to the next available connection as I have setup a gateway group. I don’t need to do anything
My thinking was to achieve something similar between two sites with openVPN.
