Curious as to everyone’s thoughts. It has dual NICs, an iGPU, supports HW (firmware?) RAID1 on internal NVMe’s, supports up to 128GB DDR5 RAM (not that I’m selling my house to buy that). I’ve heard of reliability issues with Minisforums not being great for 24x7 work but might be neat to explore on the NUC side. What do you think would you do it or nah? Homelab use case not client obvs.
If these are the CPU’s with the performance and efficiency cores then you are going to have a hard time. You’ll have to disable the E cores if possible in the bios. For me it’s a hard no. Proxmox might be able to handle this alright, but it has caused issues for a lot of users.
I have a Minisforum, worked fine with Proxmox for about a year give or take. The only issue was the fan noise, it has tiny laptop fans that often need to spin their itsy-bitsy blades very very fast. But for the most part it was pretty quiet.
Maybe not the least expensive option for a Proxmox node, and likely overkill really. VMs don’t need all that much CPU power in most cases. But why not? As far as heterogenous cores, I wouldn’t let that throw you. worst case you can pin the e cores to your lightest workloads.
