VMware to Proxmox: Terminology & Feature Mapping Reference

Great video!

Two things that I would add:

“Disappointment” is relative.

It is workload depending.

I am running it with a 3-node cluster on a mini PC with the Intel N95 processor and GbE links between them and for Windows AD DC, DNS, and AdGuardHome, it’s perfectly fine. (I’m also running crafty controller and Plex off the system as well.)

Ceph performance, especially for EC performance, is fundamentally a ceph problem.

I wished that you had covered that you can do most PCIe passthrough, in Proxmox, to LXCs (and VMs as well), quite easily and it works for the most part. (Not all, but most.)

As far as I’m aware, I don’t know if you can share PCIe resources with xcp-ng and I don’t know if you can do the same with VMWare as well.

So for some enterprise users, this can be an advantage if they’re not like cloud providers or something like that where they are renting out their hardware.
